State of the ATL Tech Ecosystem Report Highlights $1.2B Capital and Deep Tech Wins

March highlights the incredible momentum within the Atlanta tech ecosystem, culminating in the "State of the ATL Tech Ecosystem" event on April 1st. From breakthroughs in AI to a billion-dollar year for venture capital, Atlanta continues to prove why it is the "Silicon Valley of the South."

On April 1st, the City of Atlanta’s Office of Technology and Innovation (the Atlanta Tech Hub) hosted the State of the ATL Tech Ecosystem at Intuit’s Atlanta office. Commemorating the Hub’s third anniversary, Mayor Andre Dickens and Senior Tech Advisor Donnie Beamer unveiled the 2025 Tech Impact Report, showcasing a year of explosive growth.

Key Highlights from the Report:

  • Capital Infusion: Atlanta startups secured $1.2 billion in venture capital across 82 funding rounds in 2025.
  • Job Creation: 1,155 new tech jobs were created by supported companies, contributing over $69 million in salaries to the local economy.
  • Founder Confidence: 78% of founders surveyed would recommend Atlanta as the premier place to start a company, and 92% plan to hire in the next 12 months.
  • Civic Innovation: The city is leading by example, using AI to detect over 50 water leaks, saving an estimated 123 million gallons of water annually.
  • Investment Momentum: Since its inception, the Atlanta Tech Hub has mobilized over $37 million in investments to fuel local builders.

Funding & Acquisitions
  • Construction AI Startup Document Crunch Acquired by Trimble: Atlanta-based construction AI startup Document Crunch was acquired by Colorado-based public technology company, Trimble (NASDAQ-listed). Document Crunch's construction-specific AI tools for document analysis and risk management will be integrated into the Trimble Construction One ecosystem. The specific financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed; however, Document Crunch had previously raised $21.5 million in Series B funding. (source: Hypepotamus)
  • Atlanta-based AI startup Huper raises $1.5 million in pre-seed funding: Atlanta-based Huper Corporation completed a $1.5 million pre-seed round led by investors including Nadia Partners, Link Ventures, and Long Ridge Equity Partners. Huper is rolling out its "AI Chief of Staff" product, which aggregates data across email and CRM systems to provide executives with real-time metrics and reduce management inefficiencies.   • Georgia Biotech Syndicate Invests in HealthTech Startup Sanguina: A new investment syndicate formed by Georgia Tech, Emory University, and Invest Georgia announced its investment in Sanguina, an Atlanta-based wellness and diagnostic startup. Corporate Expansion & Aerospace
  • Major Healthcare Tech Expansion: Glytec Scales in Metro Atlanta: Governor Brian P. Kemp announced on March 18 that healthcare technology company Glytec is relocating its new global headquarters to Cobb County. Glytec, which specializes in AI-driven software (Glucommander) for hospital insulin management, chose Georgia for its growth stage due to the favorable business environment, global connectivity, and deep talent pool. The expansion is expected to create 500 high-paying jobs over the next several years and further solidifies Georgia as an international hub for the life sciences sector. (source: 11Alive)
  • AI Firm Airia Expands Global Headquarters to Tech Square: The Atlanta-based AI company, Airia, has signed a 10,000-square-foot lease for its new office in the Coda building within Georgia Tech’s Midtown innovation district. The firm, founded by local entrepreneur John Marshall (known for founding AirWatch), helps companies deploy and scale artificial intelligence by orchestrating workflows and protecting corporate data.   • Georgia Tech Students Build Lunar Testing Lab for Robotics: Aerospace engineering students have created a specialized lunar-simulation facility called the Aerospace Robotics Lab. The lab is designed to recreate the moon's harsh surface environment using seven tons of mineral rocks mimicking lunar soil to test autonomous rovers and humanoid robots for future space missions.   • Atlanta Public Company Mirion Technologies Plays Role in NASA Artemis II: Atlanta public company Mirion Technologies (NYSE: MIR) announced its radiation-detection technology (Crew Active Dosimeters or CAD) has been deployed on NASA's Artemis II moon mission. The CAD devices, which are manufactured in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, use direct ion storage technology for radiation monitoring to ensure astronaut safety. (source: Atlanta Business Chronicle)
  • Hermeus Achieves Unicorn Status, Relocates HQ to California: Aerospace firm Hermeus reached a $1 billion valuation after raising $350 million to accelerate its unmanned hypersonic fighter jet program. Hermeus is strategically moving its headquarters from Atlanta to El Segundo, California, near Los Angeles International Airport. The company will retain its facility in Atlanta, shifting its focus there to production, but the move makes Hermeus the second local startup to move its headquarters away this year.   • The 13th Annual Atlanta Science Festival: The month of March was highlighted by the Atlanta Science Festival, which kicked off with "Celebrate STEAM" at Georgia Tech. Over 4,000 attendees engaged with 50+ demonstrations, and the festival spanned over 150 activities across the city, concluding with the final Exploration Expo at Piedmont Park on March 21.     • Youth Innovation: Highlighting the festival's impact, 9-year-old Aria Washington debuted her own robotic K-9, inspired by a demonstration she saw at the festival just two years prior.
    • Sustainability on Display: The Georgia Tech Solar Racing team partnered with the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library to showcase the evolution of clean energy, featuring modern solar-powered vehicles.

  • Cox Cleantech Accelerator Doubles Investment to $250,000 for New Cohort: The Cox Cleantech Accelerator, led by Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises, announced its third cohort of five cleantech startups. The program has more than doubled its investment per early-stage firm, increasing it from $100,000 to $250,000.
