Level Up: Minecraft Build Challenge
Description
The Atlanta Microsoft Build Challenge stands as a dynamic and innovative event, bringing together local developers, tech enthusiasts, and industry professionals to showcase their skills and creativity within the Microsoft ecosystem. Organized by Microsoft, this challenge serves as a platform for participants to explore cutting-edge technologies, collaborate on innovative projects, and push the boundaries of what's possible in the realm of software development.
Participants in the Atlanta Microsoft Build Challenge engage in friendly competition, leveraging Microsoft's tools, platforms, and cloud services to create solutions that address real-world challenges or demonstrate novel approaches to technology. The challenge fosters an environment of collaboration and learning, encouraging participants to share insights, best practices, and creative solutions with one another.
The event is not only an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their technical prowess but also a chance to connect with like-minded individuals in the local tech community. It serves as a nexus for networking, idea exchange, and potential collaborations that extend beyond the duration of the challenge.
Microsoft's commitment to fostering innovation and empowering developers is evident in the Atlanta Microsoft Build Challenge. By providing a platform for hands-on exploration and collaboration, Microsoft aims to inspire and elevate the local tech community, contributing to the collective growth and advancement of technology in the vibrant city of Atlanta.
As the students engage with their virtual worlds and interact with experts brought in by APS, the question they are being asked to consider is: “How can we envision a connected, equitable and sustainable future that moves Atlanta forward without leaving anyone behind? “
While teachers plan interdisciplinary tasks connected to the Georgia Standards, APS students will be building virtual proposals in Minecraft: Education that encapsulate their vision for Atlanta’s future. These proposals will then be submitted for consideration by a panel of judges.
Purpose
On September 5th, Atlanta Public Schools (APS) launched a city-wide Minecraft build challenge for students to construct their own virtual representation of the city. The goal of the initiative is three-fold: we want to increase student engagement and strengthen their bond to Atlanta, to show students what civic engagement looks like specifically through the use of technology, and to solicit their opinions and unique perspectives on local problems.
